New Record @ Lowes Motor Speedway TT Series broken by one of our own Bob Chambers
This is quite an awesome accomplishment. Considering some of the challenges Bob Chambers has fought and overcome this is border-line miraculous. It wasn't long ago that Bob was recovering from major injuries from an bike accident involving a car. I'm sure there was a time when Bob's riding future was questioned. All questioned were officially answered Tuesday Night when Bob Chambers obliterated his AG course record by 15 seconds. This TT course is 7 loops (10 miles) of the speedway. Huge Congratulations to Bob Chambers! Way to represent our group and the area- We are super-proud of you! Below is a excerpt from Bob's report..
"My previous best was 21:42. If I recall correctly, the old course record set just a few weeks back was 21:31.
The new course record is 21:16.343 ... set and held by ME! Do that math. 28.2 mph! And folks ... it was quite blustery out there. Far from perfect conditions. As evidence, my nemesis (the former record holder) did 21:46.
I do need to say a special thank you to my new training associate, Dr. Ferrari, aka Matt Helton. I worked out at his gym in Abbeville this morning (wonderful place, by the way) and told him I was doing this TT. He told me I had to try this stuff called "Orange Crush." I don't know how much it helped me on the TT (I suspect quite a bit, actually), but I know for sure it helped me on the drive home and it's why I'm awake and typing this at 12:35 a.m.
One final neat item. As I was packing up to leave, there was a Hincapie Sports team guy loading up his P3 with his dimpled Zipp disk two spaces down from me. I heard him on his cell phone telling someone he just did a personal best time of 21:26. I guess those Hincapie guys are just pikers. ;-) (OK ... it's time to humble myself.)"
