5-9-09 Ride
Riders,
Have you had enough rain? Hopefully, we’ll get a few hours of sunshine Saturday morning so we can ride! I think most of the regulars are back from last weekend’s excursions to out-of-state locations. From what I saw, there was an injury that has side-lined one tri-guy… and after excellent medical attention and the application of a beautiful Clemson orange soft case, it is reported he’ll return sometime next month…. Until then, we’ll need someone to take an extra pull at the front… won't that be YOU!!!
Props to those White Lakers… The Anderson Area Triathletes (including our adopted tri guy from G’ville) represented us at a 1/2 Iron Distance Race last weekend…. After the float/spin/jog there was some pain and suffering inflicted by the distance. Then, we were rewarded by a culinary feast prepared by IronMike. Props to the competing athletes Mr. NameSake (Vance), One Star (Russ), Nascar (Dave), The Rookie (Jason), IronMike (Wheel-less Whaley), Mrs. Griz (Andrea), and the Adopted-One (Pete)... and the photo finish of Mike & Mike.... And BIG props to Ryno for putting up an incredible bike split on a badly sprained ankle… which caused him to reconsider the ½ marathon…
Props to TT-Bob for a fine showing at the Georgia Cup series and the Lowe’s TT in Charlotte… and props to those who rode various events last weekend… come share your stories as we rollout out for the first miles at conversational pace…
The group will convene this Saturday at the New Spring Parking lot for a rollout time of 0800. Distance will remain 42 to 45 (give or take, plus or minus) miles at an average pace of 16+mph…. there’s a group who’ll go much faster if you feel the need for speed.
Here’s some information about the Anderson YMCA Sprint Tri on Sunday, May 17th at 7:30am. NOTE: the race registration CLOSES on May 14th, so be sure to sign up early!!!
And we need some volunteers!!! The foundation of a great race is the volunteer staff, so if you’re not racing come volunteer and cheer on the athletes!!! If you can help, please meet in the Community Room at the Anderson Area YMCA at 6:30AM the morning of the race. Adults are needed on the bike course and younger volunteers can assist with directing runners.

See ya on the road.
