Riders,
Last weekend we had a great time on the Tour de La France ride and watching the crits downtown…. For this weekend, we’ll return to our roots for the SVR (Saturday Vance Velo Ride)… our roots are large crowds, great weather, rested legs and a cycling spirit … and the Mac’s Sprint zone… the ride is always better with a “ride ready bike”… yes, a ride ready bike with tires holding air, water bottles full, lubed chain, cycling computer zeroed-out, shoes, shorts & helmet and a jersey stuffed full of riding food… gels, bars, fruit, and a little cash for the second visit to Macs… and lately, there have been NEW ride ready bikes… Ms. King has one… Mr. King’s sister has one… and rumor has it someone else just got herself a new ride???
The group rolls out at 0800 from the parking lot of New Springs for ~47 miles, more or less… you’ll notice the mileage has increased due to the inclusion of Simms Mill Rd… which has 3 thigh burning, lung busting, out-of-the-saddle hills… and we do all that just for kicks & giggles…. And we owe it all to BC… who may or may not ride due to Clemson Football… and kick-off isn’t until 3:30pm???
Just a few hearty congrats to our own SVR locals…
TT-Bob set new track record at Lowe’s Speedway for Masters 55+….he crushed it at 29.2mph
And for those who run…. and run well… especially in the late night hours (aka Midnight Flight)… congrats to these two-footed speedsters for podium finishes in varying distances… and age groups… Kidd-D, Ms. Griz, Mr. Ziegler, Miren, Gina, and Hampton….(my apologies if I missed someone….)
And to Mr. & Mrs. Griz and CBD for logging a triple digit ride in NC on Labor Day…
And to Arizona Ben for completing his first Cat-5 Crit!
And to Beastie Bob for checking in all the way from NC!!
And Best of Luck to LG… who’ll be in Budapest racing for the gold… in the ITU World Championship Triathlon!!!
If you’re new to the group, give a shout out before the start… so we can keep an eye on you as we travel out & about the course…
So, if you're in town... and want to or need to ride... join us for more fun than is legally allowed...
now for you riders who really need "kick & giggles".. what are your thoughts about really changing the route FOR ONE TIME ONLY on the weekend of Sept 25? Clemson is off (or out of town).... there's a huge group going to Augusta 70.3... that leave just US here at home... I'm thinking when we get to Macs... we go towards Clemson Blvd and get on the JJR course... eventually getting back to P-ton to catch the rest of the ride??? any takers??? it's a one time shot???
And for the final thought... who among you will be going LONG next year???
