Last Ride of Sept 2010

Riders

It’s that time of the week for the SVR reminder… for some who read this, it’ll whet their appetite for getting miles… for others, it’ll make them feel bad because they’ll miss the ride due to other commitments… and for others, it’ll make them feel guilty because they haven’t been on a bike in days, weeks, or months!!!

So, this weekend's ride will be a nice steady pace, without many, if any, hard efforts… the group leaves the parking lot of New Spring at 0801… come ready to ride… and we’ll talk about the pain and suffering of those who are racing the next day… and who have raced last weekend… the route is 45 to 47 miles... give a shout out if you're new to the group...

Props to Bob C, Miren, Emily and Kristen for racing the SC Road Race last weekend…

Props to Florida Bill, Ryno, Kidd-D for conquering B2B (Bridge-2-Bridge) uphill (opps, I mean up mountain) race!!! Maybe they’ll show up and tell us war stories of just how vertical Grand Father Mountain is!!!! (note to self, big guys don’t climb…)

This weekend’s ride will be a little less crowded… as we’re sending ~15 riders to the Augusta 70.3 race, how about you joining us???

Here’s the list of “who’s who” going to Augusta...

Mr. Name-Sake Vance, Ms. Kidd-D (who’s really logged some awesome training miles)

Look Back Scott and his better half Gina, Mr. Racin’ Jason (not to be confused with Retired Jason)... Mr. & Mrs. King ( no kidding a second husband & wife half-iron team), RedBook KT, Mr. Lister, Recon Reggie (who did step up last week to “call the ride” with a "Tally-ho" in a very British accent), Mrs. Sanders (who has asked the question why, why, why), and Timmy… apologies for those missed...

Best of luck to all and send some reports…

So, if you're reading this.. you need to get the ride B2B report from Kidd-D... the pain and suffering he endured riding up Grand Father Mt just confirms me as being a flat-lander... it was epic, but only for the craziest riders out there...

SAVE THE DATE: Next Saturday, Oct 2, the SVR will be a fund raising ride for Buddy White participating in the Challenge to Conquer Cancer Ride to Austin, Texas. Buddy's wife is being treated for cancer, so this fund raiser really hits close to home. Buddy has measured the SVR route, prepared ride queue sheets for a 25 mile or the full 47 mile ride and is asking only for donations... and LUNCH WILL BE SERVED ON SITE AFTER THE RIDE... so, if you have EVER had a hankering to ride SVR, but never could get to Anderson.. here's a great reason to make it this time.. of course, the ride begins at 0800.

This ride is what everyone needs... a long ride with a que sheet ending with lunch... all for a donation to a great cause..

I think for next week, I'll be able to do the TNR and I'm going to post a ride report... for those interested in reading it... from the point of view of a BOPr...

See ya at the back,

The Announcer
