Saturday Ride Details 2-19-11

Riders,

It’s time to saddle-up your horses and get ready to ride… for Saturday, your trusty steed should either be a road bike or a TT bike… the choice is yours! All I know is I’m going to try to ride in shorts and not tights!!! Because it’s really beginning to feel like Spring Time has sprung… I hear reports of Purple Martins being sited…. And folks riding in short sleeve jerseys… it is time to get our RIDE-ON!!!

Kudos to the SVR (Saturday Vance Velo Riders) for last Saturday…our little group collected and delivered almost $1400 to the friend of Mac’s who has cancer… JOB WELL DONE… the pics above are the delivery of the gift... Mac was moved, so was Mr. NameSake, Ms. Fancy Pants and Ryno... and special thanks to those who dropped money by even if they didn’t ride… and here’s a special SHOUT OUT to Bullet Bob, who is rehabbing some broken bones!! Get well soon so you can ride in the good weather!

Last week, we welcomed new riders from across the region… we hope to do the same this Saturday. We had Belton Bill and Honea Path Greg join us and long-lost Glenn B… and I’m happy to report, my mission was successful last Saturday… Glenn went to the front and I followed his wheel the whole way!!! Nothing like riding in the slipstream when the “front-man” is fighting the wind!!! Truth be told, I may "tri" but I'm a roadie to the core... all I need is a wheel to follow!! Thanks Glenn!

Kudos to more RUNNERS in the group… CowGirl Gina won her age division for the Green Valley 5 mile run… VP Reggie took 3rd place age division for the 10 miler…I saw some awesome picks of JZ, but didn’t get a race report… I can only assume he did well… because he’s really fast on two legs!!!

So, for this weekend, we’re hoping for the best as TT-Bob competes in the Tundra Time Trial in Georgia… and for Racin’ Jason who’ll collect 26.2 miles at the Myrtle Beach Marathon…. the report is that Racin' Jason says he FEELS LIKE A RUNNER.... (how wrong is that???)

If you’re racing, riding, etc… best of luck and send a report… we’re all interested in what YOU are doing!

The ride starts at 0901 from the parking lot of New Spring Church.. route options 45 to 47 miles... If you're new to the group, give a shout out at the start so the old-timers can show you the way.

Here’s an updated email address for Land H… due to some hackers, he’s changed is address… please note new address is land@ironworksmultisport.com. Hope everything's going great and that the training is in full gear!

See ya on the road…. Or at the top of Simms Mill.. yep, that hill is calling my name.. Heck, I may even have to ride back to Macs... we did it all the time last year!

I'll try to post a few pics from last week's ride at Macs... so check the blog later.

Are you guys riding this Sat 9Apr? What's the start time these days? I'll most likely be able to join.
