Ride for Saturday 4-28-07

Riders,
This could be called "Madden's Missed Ride". The plan is the meet and rollout from New Spring's parking lot at 8:30am sharp. The neutral zone will continued to be observed until Timms Mill. Last week, we might have set a record for participation!!! I think we had 18 to 20 riders... did someone get a head count?? That included a few new riders too!!!

Best of luck the folks doing the Anderson Tri on Sunday.

Please be advised, I have a handwritten excuse for missing tomorrow's ride. I'll submit it to the ride captain once I return to town. Since I won't be there, I'd appreciate someone posting a post-ride synopsis on the blog.... so I can enjoy the ride from afar.

6PM from New Springs 4-24-07

For those unable to start in Pendleton at 6:00 on Tuesdays, Is anyone else interested in leaving from NewSpring church at 6:00 to meet up with the main group coming out of Pendleton? I'm unable to get to Pendleton in time to leave at 6:00, but I plan to leave from NewSpring instead and reverse the route until meeting the group on the road. Last year I met the leaders on Ruhamah/Baugh Rd a few times, and also on Melton Rd near the crossing of Hwy 88. Mac Smith's could be our turnaround, or any other convenient point. Post a reply to this notice, that way I'll keep an eye out for you. Thanks! Scott Shuey

Saturday Ride 4-21-07

Riders,
Saddle up, it's time to ride. Our local group will gather this Saturday, 4-21-07 at New Spring's parking lot for the weekly dose of bike miles. We'll rollout at 8:30am sharp. Once again, we'll observe a neutral zone until Timms Mill. After that, groups usually form according to a variety of factors.. such as a individual training goals.
We'll continue the usual route of ~43 miles, give or take...

So, join us at the start, or join us on the road, or join us in Pendleton.

Mike "the announcer Madden

PS... I have a work obligation that could prevent my participation this Saturday... but, I'll make every effort to be there... will you??

SVR for 4-14-07

Riders,
It's that time to announce our SVR (Saturday Velo Ride) for this Saturday, April 14. With a little luck, it will be somewhat warmer than last Saturday's JJR!!! So far, the plan is to roll-out at 8:30AM for about 43 miles... give or take... We leave from New Spring's Community Church parking lot... We'll continue to observe the neutral zone for the first 4 miles... give or take... that's just enough time and distance to get your spin going and settle in for a nice ride... After the neutral zone, which is Timms Mill Road, we'll settle into groups based on your riding pleasure... some folks will go off the front, others will pick-up the pace while others will sit & spin in as prep work for the tri race on Sunday... so, it should be a G-R-E-A-T ride for everyone.

We've added a few more riders to the email list... so, if this is your first notice, we welcome you to our ride notification system... please join us so we can put a face to an email address.

Here's a question for Barry and the Knights of the Roundtable... will you guys join us on the road?? please note our departure time.. 0830... that's 30 minutes earlier than previous weeks... of note, we should arrive in Pendleton around 9:40am... if you desire to meet us there...

Last check of the weather shows some rain coming our way.. BUT, our morning miles should be okay... right Mr. Weatherman?

See you at the start..
please feel free to post a post ride comment..

PPS or PSS... Fred has a new bottle cage system... so, when you're drafting in the paceline, you don't have to worry about dodging bottle projectiles!!! JOB WELL DONE!!!

SVR doing the JJR on 4-7-07

This Saturday, the SVR will defer our usual ride to support the JJR. The ride starts at the Agricultural Museum across from Tri-County Tech in Pendleton. Registration is between 8am and 10am. Riders may start anytime between 8am and 10am. The ride options are a 28 mile loop or a metric century.

Please note there's a small, very small group that is planning for a mega-mile Saturday. That means they'll meet at New Spring's parking lot and roll out at 8am sharp. They'll meander to the start of the JJR, hammer the route and then, ride home. I might join in for the ride over, then ride most of the route at my own pace and then head home with 50+ miles.

Folks who know the local roads say we should arrive at the start of the JJR by 9am for those who don't want the extra miles or the early hours.

The early morning temperature is going to be cool if not cold. So, don't put away the tights, long sleeve jersey, toe covers, booties, and jackets just yet. But, didn't we train for this all winter long?

After the JJR, why not post a ride comment... perhaps the best part of the ride???
