Nov 13 ride

Riders

Ready to ride yet??? Since Clemson is playing out of town this week, maybe we’ll have a few more riders?? Last week, we missed some of our usual and customary riders…. I’m talking about YOU!!! Maybe Retired Jason will see this pic and decide to ride??? Maybe the tales from the three amigos will strike his memory??? So, don’t forget the ride begins at 0900 from the parking lot of New Spring… the route remains the same…. Which includes climbing Simms Mill Rd… I don’t know about you, but that road hurts even more since I only ride outside on Saturdays!!!

So, make sure you can locate your bike… those things can go missing during the cold, dark months… check your tires, your chain, your shifters, and tighten any lose nuts & bolts… and dress in layers cuz pedaling a bike generates heat and heat makes you hot and over dressing for a ride can effect attitude!!! Of course you strip down at Mac's.

Best of luck to TT-Bob… who’ll compete in B2B Full Iron Distance relay.. which means he’s going to ride a 112 mile ITT…. At smokin’ fast speeds… can’t wait to see those splits!!! And to Greg S who’d doing the B2B half… stay warm guys…

A few congratulations are in order… Last Saturday, we had 3 of our own join the IronMan Finisher’s club… a hearty welcome to Scott “Look-Back” Brooks, Reggie “Gilligan” Chapman and Kevin “Redbook-LoneWolf” Todd… I think they may have few more “days off”… but eventually they’ll come back to ride a victory SVR lap!!! Job well done guys..

Now, a word to a select few… I know you know what I know… but, there may be something I don’t know that you thought I knew…. I only know what I’ve seen, heard or read… so, if you need to confess a sign up…. Please do so… so for now… congrats to those who’ve taken a leap of faith in going long next year….

What I need are a few pic from THIS year's IMFL!!!

Ride for Nov 6

Riders,

the big news is we're pushing the SVR (Saturday Velo-Vance Ride) BACK to 9am!!! yahoo, one more hour of prep time... good for a second cup of coffee, eating breakfast a little more relaxed, reading the paper, walking the dog, or maybe one more hour of sleep. But most importantly, it’ll allow Mr. Sunshine more time to do his work!!! as in chase the cold temps OUT OF HERE!!! After all, cold is only the absence of heat, right??

For this weekend, we'll have more of the same... a nice well paced ride through the best cycling roads in the county!!! Route remains the same… 44 to 47 miles of riding… Last weekend, our numbers were a little low... but, we're expecting folks to be "back to normal", except for our IMFL crowd who are in PC waiting on the cannon to sound the start of an experience they've been training for over the past year!!!

So, as we ride, we’ll remember Reggie "Gilligan" Chapman, Kevin "Redbook" Todd and Scott "Look-Back" Brooks as they swim, ride and run the gauntlet of IMFL. Good Luck Guys… and bring home some stories… now, doesn’t the thought of our locals doing IMFL make you want to sign up????

Just a few words about the ride last weekend... the above IMFL crew was instructed by Coach Church to ride for 2 1/2 hours... so, in P-ton, they checked their watches and decided to "short cut" the SVR... no kidding, on the backside of water-tower hill, these guys started smelling the barn... they bypassed Vance's Country Pee Stop, the Rollers AND Rumahah... they went straight for Liberty Hwy, Tree Farm Rd, Melton, 5 Forks and straight back to the church... they had a total of 2 hour 38 minute of riding... I just don't understand why they didn't want to go back to Mac's for the second time??? ain't that what it's all about?? Mac's X 2??

And TT-Bob is on his official taper before his B2B 112 Time Trial…. if you want to see fun, just watch TT-Bob on a taper... he's got more energy than the EverReady Rabbitt and he has to contain it until Next Saturday!!!! but, when he uncorks that stored potential... he'll clobber the course!!!! GO GET EM' BOB!!!!

Hearty congrats to the Spinx Run Fest runners… there were some amazing times for Mr. Ziegler, Nick C on the full, Kidd-D Stelly, Coach Church, Ms. Fancy-Pants Nancy, JJ, Racing-Jason and Chuck & Son on the half… and Suzanne for the 5K… job well done…. Now, it’s time to get on the bike and ride… (kinda a quote from Queen!!!)

The group gathers at the parking lot of New Spring… come ready to roll at 0901… give a shout if you’re new to the group…
