Saturday 6-30-07

Riders,

Join us for another great ride this Saturday... we'll rollout from the parking lot at New Springs at 0800 for at least one loop of the standard SVR (which is ~43 miles) ... we'll continue the tradition of the neutral zone until Timms Mill... then, we'll settle into different groups based on who shows up for the ride... I'll tell you... the famous song might be "Baby It's Cold Outside".... but, they haven't lived in the South!!!! For me, the heat is taking its toll.. and my efforts are "dialed back" due to a survival instinct...

Props to our "out-of-towners" for last weekend... the IM did an incredible job out in Idaho... I hoped you checked their progress via the web... (does it make you want to do an IronMan.... NOT!!!!) Rumor has it that one IM will ride with us.. while the other is in the middle of getting lubed up... (ie getting several doses of Southern Tradition served at the fine restaurants Mama Penn's and The Meeting Place) and the other is on an extended vacation...

Props to Bob for a fine showing in Louisville at the Senior Games... Two TT and a Road Race in just a few days...

and Props to Bob L who participated in the Bee Buzzin' Tour... and as I've heard, he posted a PR for a metric!!! (that's what it's all about, right?)

See you in the parking lot BEFORE 0800...

Come one, Come all..

Ditto for June 23

Riders,
I should just say "ditto" last week's email. The "welcomed" rain this past Tuesday night "forced" some of us to the Y for the spin class... NOW, we need an outside ride to "balance" our efforts... Just why is it easier to ride 45 miles on Saturday AM than attend a spin class for 1 hour??? If you know the answer, please tell us this Saturday, June 23... the ride starts at 0800 from New Spring's parking lot... we'll ride the same route we've been riding since the SVR was established.... The total distance about 44 miles, give or take.... Of course, you could pull a Fred or Brad and turn around when we get to Mac's... We should arrive in P-ton around the same time as last week...

FWIW, here's a SHOUT out to Vance, Russ and Brooks... these "hard core" IronMan" type are going to tame the Coeur d'Alene course this Sunday (6-24-07)... their race begins at 0700 with a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride followed by a full marathon.... BEST OF LUCK GUYS!!!

AND, here's a SHOUT out to Bob C of Calhoun Falls who's in Louisville this weekend competing in the Road Race and TT event in The Senior Olympics...
AND, here's a SHOUT out to Richard W who will be in Louisville in a few weeks competing in the Triathlon in The Senior Olympics.

For a balanced ride offering... there is the Bee Buzzin' Bike Tour this Saturday in Greenwood... they have a "short" ride and a metric... I know Bossman Bob will be there.

It's gonna be a great ride since some of the "fast" guys are gone... but, there will always be someone to take a flyer off the front... maybe it's your turn?

June 16 Ride

Riders,
Thank goodness for the rain... but, it did play havoc with the weekly Tuesday ride... only the "hard core" went out... NOW, we must get extra miles in our legs this Saturday.... with that in mind.... lube your chain and pump your tires.. it's time to ride...

The SVR departs New Spring parking lot at 0800... for at least one loop of 43 miles, give or take... some might even go back to Mac's for just "a few more"...

Come one, Come all...

June 9 Ride

This is your friendly ride announcement for this Saturday's ride... June 9. For this ride, the group will return to the "tried and true" course of the standard SVR route. Last weekend was a FANTASTIC ride in Iva.... Props to Bob for a great course... I'll make a motion that the SVR return to Iva during a few of the Clemson Football home games... but, that's ~11 weeks away. But, this Saturday, the group will roll out at 0800 sharp for at least one loop of the standard SVR route. Our point of departure remains the same (as if you didn't know)... the parking lot of New Spring Church. We'll ride to 5 Forks via Shackleburg and Timms Mill Rd.... and make our way to Pendleton.

Some folks have a training plan that will require 85 miles... I think I'll let them go off the front!!! At least one regular will miss the ride due to the Roan Groan Road Race in Tennessee... go get'em Ryan!!!! AND we have at least one regular, maybe more, that will take Saturday off to rest up for the tri in Greenwood... best of luck Griz... If you're racing this weekend and I missed you... forgive me cuz my memory is the first to go... (better than the legs, right?)

SO, I'm guessing everyone else is riding... see you at 0800... don't be late.. or you'll have to pull TWICE...
