SVR for 12-29-07

Riders,
It appears that the weather is going to cooperate for our SVR. There's an excellent chance that we'll be dry for the ride! And, since my diet has been nothing but Christmas cookies and goodies, I could use a long calorie burn. The group will assemble at the New Spring parking lot and will ROLL OUT at 8:59AM. Please note the time change. If you arrive at 9AM, we'll be gone!!! This time change is at the request of The Knights Of the Roundtable and his merry group of riders... if the SVR leaves at 8:59, they won't have to climb out of the swamp up Shackleburg Hill on their way to meet us on the road!!!! Makes perfect sense to me!!! We'll stick to the same route as previous SVRs... no reason to change an absolutely awesome route! I will declare that I'll continue to take 2 short cuts as I sweep the ride. That makes my route 41 miles. The lead group will continue with the 45 mile loop. All groups will stay together until Timms Mill. After that, we'll regroup as necessary.

During this ride, we can discuss what you did and didn't get this Christmas. For me, Santa's timeline is off schedule... or he missed my delivery address!!!! I didn't get what I ordered, YET!!!! I know I'm getting it, cuz I've been very, very good this year.

Last weekend, our group about 15 strong... we even saw the marathon man on Shackleburg...

So, if you're in town and ready to ride, join us for the most fun you can have on 2 wheels. Otherwise, we'll see you next time? I'm working on plotting the SVR on www.mapmyride.com the note section is "off" due to some inadvertent clicks of the mouse... a link is posted BELOW on the blog.

Until Saturday or the next time you ride.

Route Information

Riders,
here's an attempt at "mapmyride.com" to map out the SVR (Saturday Velo Ride)....
I did not include the two short cuts nor the Simms Mill "detour".....
and the way back is not included... (we go down Dalrymple to Scotts Bridge to S'burg back to parking lot)... I'll attempt to edit the route to include these...

let me know if I have map skills...

12-22-07 Ride

This Saturday is special in many ways. Not only is it the last Saturday before Christmas, it's also the First Day of Winter. Yep, the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year. From Sunday on, the sun sets 1 minute later. That means Spring and the riding season is on the horizon! That should brighten your day! That said, we need to get ready for the spring by logging some LSD, long steady distance.

So, before you get involved in Mall-mania, come ride with us. We leave New Springs Church parking lot at 0900 SHARP. The route remains the same. The group will stay together until Timms Mill. We'll regroup as necessary. Come tell us what Santa is bringing you!!! Can you tell what I want????Maybe someone will post his/her letter to Santa on the blog... or maybe not!!!
Last week, we had a good group and temperature dropped during the ride. Maybe it'll be warmer this week?

See ya Saturday?

Ride Report from Last Weekend

Riders,
If you're looking for the announcement, the details are in the email. For today, I thought I would post last week's ride report.
We had a good group... but, missed Florida Bill, Ryno, Brian and Renato. At least 2 of the 4 were riding in G'ville. The big news was Vortex joined us. He's always good for some free entertainment and is great to catch a draft behind. Late in the ride, we were in a paceline on Tree Farm Rd, nice even pace and everyone together. As we approached the stop sign before Melton, I notice brother was not with us. WHAT? he was just there!!!! We waited for a few minutes.. something was odd... I circled back to find that he'd blown a spoke. After a few minutes, we figured that I'd return to the house and go back in the car. I TT'd as best I could... Vortex and Jeff circled back to check on things.... (probably wanted EXTRA miles)... they paced me to the house.... I returned to find brother had adjusted his seat, played a few games on his phone, but was ready to go!!!

The good news is that we never leave our wingman... and his wheel is fixed.

great ride, great weather, great group... it just doesn't get any better than that!!!

that's my story and I'm sticking to it... if you were there, or wanted to be there, let us know about YOUR ride.
