Saturday March 1

Riders,
What are you doing this Saturday morning? If you're not skiing in Colorado, or having family fun time (like BBall, etc).. we expect you to throw a leg over your bike and ride. We'll accept most any excuse for missing a ride EXCEPT sleeping in or having the second cup of joe... those "events" are reserved for "bad weather" days, ie liquid sunshine type days.. So, join our group for a nice ride on fine county roads. We leave the parking lot of New Springs Church at 8:59AM sharp. We're not too sure if we'll meet the Knights of the Roundtable, but leaving 1 till 9AM has become our custom... THANKS Barry. Our group will ride out to 5 Forks via Shackleburg and Timms Mill... there might be a few riders taking an alternate route for a few less miles...... but, we wont' know that until Saturday morning... otherwise, the route remains the same... (you know the drill, same ride time, same ride channel, same ride route) The temp will be cool to start and will warm up as the day goes along...

Props to Bob for a fine showing at the 2008 Tundra Time Trial a few weeks ago.

The season is right around the corner, so get your miles in so we can hit it hard when Mother Nature delivers a perfect spring day!!!

So, the past few weeks the pics have been about tri bikes....NOW, look at this beauty... it's top of the line 2008 TREK... and it can be found on OUR route most every Saturday... IF its owner is not snowboarding out WEST!!!! snowboard vs TREK.... hmm, what would you pick???

PLEASE NOTE some of the yahoo.com emails have bounced back... don't know why... I'm not techy, just the announcer..

Riders,Listen up, I just checked the weather dot com site and guess what... THEY are calling for the rain to end at the wee early morning hours on Saturday... (NOTE: I've never understood who "they" are, but in the case-speaking about the weather, it's them and not me).. So, with that in mind, meet us at New Springs Community Church parking lot for the group ride. We depart at 8:59AM and the temperature is suppose to be quite nice for riding... that's if we get real sunshine and not the liquid kind... Last weekend, we missed YOU.. so, don't let us down this weekend... the question is... will the Knights of the Roundtable have to climb out of the swamp to meet us??? or will his merry group of riders head for the hills in search of "stickybuns" and all those EVIL kinds of carbs????

NOTE: I'll go on record for declaring a few short cuts.. bro will hang a left at Scotts Bridge Rd and take the Dalrymple Express to Mac's... and then, Sir Reggie will lead an expeditionary force up Lebanon Rd to downtown Pendleton, I'll join THAT group for the Pendleton to Tree Farm Rd route (which cuts out the Pinewood Rollers.. YAHOO!!!!) and we'll all meet again at Timms Mill & 5 Forks.... note to those taking the short cut, you'll will wait a few minutes at Mac's and in P-ton... so, be ye advised.... don't catch a chill and don't "cool" down....

So, there's something for everyone... the un-altered route is about 44 miles, give or take... the short-cuts trim about 6-8 miles off the total... and makes for a great ride per bro...

One other note... there's a new sheriff in town... Land H. from the YMCA has put together an Anderson Y(MCA) Tri-Club... AND the Anderson Y is hosting a triathlon on 4-6-08... here's the website http://andersonytriclub.googlepages.com/
so, book mark that web-site... and take a look at the Tri 101 clinic he's hosting... everything you wanted to know about "tri-ing" but didn't know to ask.... I know this list goes to many folks, so think about supporting your "hometown" event.. join the club, sign up for the clinic and graduate to "THE RACE" of the year
and here's another link http://upstateytri.com/events.aspx
that shows "WE" are the first in the series...
(okay, so he's not a sheriff per se.... but, it sounded good)

Here' hoping for good weather on Saturday....
Is that not one of the coolest cranks you ever seen???

Riders,
Saddle up, it's time to ride. The group will rollout at 8:59AM sharp to get on the road. We'll travel the same route. Now, it's time to pay for the short cuts for last weekend. So, I'm in for Cherry St Ext and the Rollers of Pinewood Rd... OUCH!!! NOTE: Simms Mill has NEVER been part of MY ride... so, when I decline to ride it, I'm STILL on the route!!! I'll let all you hill climbers go and enjoy yourselves.... The total ride will be about 45 miles +/-. Soon, very soon we're going to start talking about taking "it back" to Mac's during our last regrouping on the ride... and, the second time out to Mac's is ALWAYS sweeter than the first, right???

One other note, with SPRING right around the corner, we're beginning to wrap up laying the base miles and looking for some happy feet along the route, right???
Now, this is a RIDE... one of our own was kind enough to send this pic... I'm wondering just what is in the disc?? some kind of perpeutal motion machine to generate extra speed??? maybe one of you engineers can comment???

See ya in the parking lot, at Mac's, on the Square and again at Timms Mill...

Feb 9 2008

Riders,
Can you guess the details for the SVR (Saturday Velo Ride)?... yes, we roll out at 8:59am for many miles of fun. For the most part, the route will remain the same. The one exception will be for those riders looking to avoid the climb up Timms Mill, we'll send you guys down Scotts Bridge Rd, then up Dalrymple for a "sit and spin" to 5 Forks. We'll rendezvous at Mac's to continue our trek around the course. I'm in for the second short cut as we turn towards Pendleton up Lebanon Rd (at Yoders). I'm in for the third short cut as we take Liberty Hwy for 400yrd as we avoid the Pinedale Rollers and the slow grind up Richwood and Rumahah Rd. We'll rejoin the A train along Tree Farm Rd and our final regrouping will be at Timms Mill and 5 Forks..

So, throw a leg over the saddle and come ready to ride... we have something for everyone.
So, you want to know why I'm in for a short cut? cuz I'm getting extra miles at the end!!! Yes, when I finish the SVR, I swing by the house, refill the bottles and grab some carbs... then, the wife and I got OUT for a ride... yes, my lovely wife got a new bike!!!! and she loves riding!!! so, after the SVR, when the weather is nice and warm, we got out for 15+ miles... just how sweet is that??? Did you notice her new bike was in the HOUSE and my new bike was in the garage!!!

See ya Saturday??

The Announcer.
