Ride for 10-27-07

Riders,

This is it… time to ride!!! Since the Clemson Tigers are away, there’s no reason for not claiming our 18 inches of county roads!!! (Just for balance, USC is away too... they'll lose to Tennesse) Listen up, this is IMPORTANT… the ride time has been pushed back to 8:30AM…. Due to a late sunrise of ~7:45AM and low morning temperatures, we think it’s a good move. It will be somewhat chilly at the start, so I'd suggest at least arm warmers. But, by the end of the ride, the weather should be nearly perfect.... so perfect some riders might want MORE miles...

Last week, I declared the mission of the ride as being LSD… Long Steady Distance… this will be true for my ride this weekend. My mission for this time of year is to tie this season to next season and my method is LSD. I'd hate to lose whatever I might have gained over the past several months.

So, join us for the ride of the week… and we’re lucky to be able to get out there.

We leave from New Spring’s parking lot for a loop of ~42 miles, give or take. We leave at 8:30AM on the nose.

So, my method is LSD… what's yours?

Come one, come all.

Ride for 10-20-07

Riders,

This is my tale of woe...So, last weekend, I didn’t ride… and this weekend I’ll pay for it… but, it’ll be worth it many times over…. It’s always good to get back in the saddle again.

Yep, that’s right… we’re RIDING this Saturday. Join us for a great ride for some LDS… yep, that’s right, in my state of steady (de)training, I’m ready to declare the start of the transition to LSD…. Long, steady distance…. This will be my MO for winter riding… and hopefully, by the time spring rolls around next year, we’ll all be ready to “kick it up a notch” BAM!!!!

The group rolls out at 0800 SHARP from the New Springs parking lot. Our new route will keep us from the Clemson traffic with the following detour: WE WILL NOT RIDE INTO DOWNTOWN PENDLETON. We’ll not make the left onto Anderson St then onto Cherry St. That will shorten our ride by a few miles… but, that’s okay, right?

Come one, come all.

Now, congrats are in order for some outstanding area tri talent!!!! For the 2007 South Carolina Triathlon Series, let's tip our hat to Dale who won his age division!!! Ken who took 3rd in his division and G-Fred who took 4th in his... congrats on a fine racing season... When you guys join us, we'll label the ride a "SCTS Victory Lap" in your honor... and everyone will take a pull at the front and let you sit in... WAIT... you guys don't win this stuff by "sitting in"... so, maybe we'll follow YOUR WHEEL!!!

Congrats guys!!!!

PS... if I missed a regular SVR'r, please forgive me... and let me know... we always want to send our best to those who ride with us...

SVR supports RFR

Riders,

This is IT... the weekend that everyone has been waiting on!!!! The SVR will be suspended for one day as we support the Ride for Raptors. I hope everyone is registered. The mass start is the best way to begin this ride as all riders roll out of downtown Pendleton.

Be safe and Ride Hard.

Mike "526" Madden

And congrats to one of "our own" who won the State TT for his AGE group... AND he's won his age division at Lowe's Motor Speedway Time Trial. Any guesses who the champion is?
Yep, all the way from CF!!! Bob takes the championship.
On another note, I'm sad to report that I won't be joining the RFR this year. I have honeydo obligations that require my attention on Friday, Saturday and Sunday... but, that's okay... everyone gets "their" turn to do these things... and I'd rather do them as the season winds down... so, as you begin your RfR ride (at about 60 degrees), I'll pour myself another cup of coffee, flip through the paper and enjoy breakfast with my BETTER HALF!!!! those are GREAT Saturdays!!!!
Someone please post a RfR report!!!!

Ride for 10-6-07

Riders,

Last week, we welcomed Jeff D. back to the SVR and this week we welcome him to the email list. He had been relying on the Knights of Bradberry to pass along important details of the weekly ride. Since it had been while from Jeff’s last ride with us, I figured we might have had a “failure to communicate”… So, I took it upon myself to “memorize” his email address so a direct line of communication could be established…

Last week, we had a small group of riders that kept the SVR tradition alive. If you haven’t heard, our locals did very well at the SC Half (Ironman) AND had a strong showing at the 6 Gap Century in Georgia. Those guys and gals can RIDE.... and swim.... and run...

The season is winding down and we’re looking to keep the legs turning. So, join us this Saturday for a nice easy ride of 43 miles. We leave from New Spring’s parking lot at 0800 sharp. We’ll continue to ride the route that has given us so much pleasure, especially as things “heat” up towards Mac’s.

So, if you’re not running in the Standpipe 5K or volunteering, why not throw a leg over the saddle and turn the cranks? Don't you think that's a nice pic of a saddle???

PLEASE NOTE: Next Saturday is the Ride for Raptors… I hope you’ve signed up by now… as that ride is not one to miss… and usually will “replace” the SVR… believe it or not!!!!
